| Introducing the ThreeWeeks Archives |
|
This August will see ThreeWeeks return to the Edinburgh Festival for the thirteenth consecutive year, following on from our third year at the Brighton Festival. During the fifteen festivals we have covered to date we have interviewed hundreds of performers, directors and wirters, and reviewed literally thousands of shows. The ThreeWeeks archives are vast.
Much of this archive content is not currently available online, but it is our intention to make make it so in the next twelve months by putting as much of the ThreeWeeks archives onto the website as possible. Together this content will provide a unique retrospective of the recent history of the Brighton Festival and its Fringe, and of the growth and development of the Edinburgh Festival, and the thousands of artists who have performed at it, in the last twelve years.
ThreeWeeks is a not-for-profit venture, run by UnLimited Media because we believe that the Brighton and Edinburgh festivals are better places because of the existance of a grass roots media that makes it its mission to review as many shows as possible, and especially those ignored by other publications, without the commercial constraints of a mainstream media organisation. The not-for-profit nature of ThreeWeeks means we do not have huge resources available for archiving activity, but we will endeavour to make as much archive content online as soon as we can. If you would like to support our archive, as a sponsor or partner, get in touch - chris@unlimitedmedia.co.uk.
People often get in touch asking if they can access past reviews of their own shows. This is not a service we have in the past offered, which means sometimes we've not been able to keep promises to go back through the archives to find a review for this show or that. However, we have overhauled our internal databases to try and enable us to access such content more efficiently. So, if you are looking for a past review of one of your shows - at the Edinburgh Festival since 2005 or the Brighton Festival since 2006 - we will probably have it on our internal content system. If you email details of the show, including show name, company name, venue and year, we will endeavour to dig it out and email you a copy. We can't guarantee to do this by return (especially during July and August when we are especially busy!), but will try to get a response to you as soon as we can.
Meanwhile, keep an eye on this part of the ThreeWeeks website for more news on the all new ThreeWeeks online archives.
